Recommendation: That the number of persons drawn from the community to constitute occasional or standing committees [forums, task forces or the like], and having NO affiliation with the school district except to pay school taxes, be increased to reflect their numbers found in the general population of the Three Village Central School District.

Background: Population data for the area suggests there are more than 30,000 eligible voters living within the Three Village Central School District. Some 23,000 are registered. Parents of district students and resident employees of the district number little more than 6,000. It is the latter group whose opinions are disproportionately represented in ALL manner of district considerations.

The Three Village Herald on March 20th quoted one BAC member as saying that 60% of the Budget Advisory Committee members were school related. This should not be the case.

This nation's origins were, in great part, precipitated because of burdensome "taxation without representation" imposed upon a population ignored by authority. When the interests of perhaps 80% of a community's residents are disregarded, should the disenfranchised feel anymore kindly toward a 1996 TVCSD Administration than earlier Americans felt toward King George?
