Recommendation: Provide that veterans and the surviving spouses of veterans, police officers and firefighters killed in the line of duty be hereafter provided hiring and promotional advantages over other applicants, when all other qualifications of such candidates are found to be equal.
Background: In recognition of their honorable military service to these United States during times of national emergency and of those sacrifices endured by the spouses and children of police officers and firefighters killed in the line of duty, it is fitting and appropriate that the Three Village Central School District, in appreciation and understanding show its respect.

The provision of hiring and promotional advantage is commonly accepted throughout government agencies and Three Village Central School District and its public schools should be expected to do no less.
