Gay Pride Month
Raising the Rainbow in Sodom-Francisco
On June 21, 1999 the proud-to-the-core leaders of the fair city named after St. Francis of Assisi, gathered together at City Hall to celebrate what would have given "Frank," were he alive, full cardiac arrest.
It was with great enthusiasm that the City's Mayor Willie L. Brown, Jr., along with a gaggle of San Francisco elite and effete, announced their delight at being part of what was the very first time in the annals of American history that "the flag symbolizing gay pride" was flown in a major city. It was flown for the balance of June, as part of the City's celebration of Gay Pride Month.

[Born to Piero Bernardone a prosperous merchant around 1181 at Assisi in Umbria, Italy, the man who would be known throughout history as Catholic Saint Francis of Assisi lived a religious life of poverty and humility before God. Thousands were drawn to his sincerity and piety. In all his actions, Francis sought to follow fully and literally the way of life demonstrated by Christ in the Gospels.]
The Mayor later announced that in keeping with the burgeoning practice of giving a month for virtually everything under the sun, he was relegating: "July, to the celebration of sundry Mutual Masturbation Practices; August, to the Burning of Forearms with Cigarettes; September, to Bestiality; October, to Pedophilia for All Ages; November to Fisting A Friend; and, December to the concept of a Decadence is Dandy month."
"We haven't yet decided what to label January through May of each year," the Mayor continued, "butt - no pun intended - there are several bizarre acts we're considering."
Later, in addressing an issue of a more serious nature, Brown insisted that he remained firmly convinced that the recent efforts of those trying to post the Ten Commandments on school property were "wrong minded and not in step with the times."
...amen.
